Step by step guide to house swapping

A short video/animation of the home swap process can be found on this page.

Alternatively follow these steps and you will be house exchanging in no time:

Step 1 - Register

Click on the above link to register for FREE with this site.  You will need to provide basic contact details and a valid email address and it takes around 5 minutes to complete the process.

Step 2 - compose an advert

Once registered you can add your mutual property exchange to the site so that other users searching for a home swap can find out about it.  This allows you to provide a summary of the property, what features and rooms it has and allows you to add photos to show off what is on offer.  We have prepared some advice on taking pictures of the house you have available to swap.

Step 3 - search for properties

Once you have set up your propety you can search the database for homes in the area you are looking to move to.  You can search by town, county, type of property, number of bedrooms, etc.

When you have found a property you can view its details to decide whether it is suitable for you.

Don't worry if there are no properties that match your search criteria - properties are being added all the time so it pays to come back and check on a regular basis.  We hope to introduce an automatic email to notify you of any potential matches in the future but at the moment you will have to log on to check.

Step 4 - contact the current tenant

Once you have found a property you can contact the tenant using an online contact form to ask them any questions and set up a home swap.  This is sent to their email address - the contact details provided during registration are not provided on the site for security reasons.

Step 5 - arrange the swap

Once agreed with the other party you can arrange your swap.

The swapping process is outlined in more detail on the home swapping and mutual exchange process page.
