Getting started - how to use this site to swap your council home

Information required

Once you have registered you need to complete a few more details before your advert will go live.  In order for you to be able to complete an advert you will need the following information:

• Basic property details; number of bedrooms, other rooms etc.
• Photos of your property; you can upload up to 5 photos to your advert.  There are some restrictions on the size of the photos so it may be necessary to reduce the size before they can be uploaded - see how to upload photos. 
• A description of your property; this may include room sizes, local amenities, etc. but this is up to you.  The more information you provide the easier it is for someone to decide whether the house is of interest to them.
• How much rent you pay each month.

And that's it - it only takes about 5 minutes to set up an advert from here.

Your next step is to either select 'Home Swap adverts' from the top menu and then click on add advert or alternatively you can click on the link below.

Matched swaps

Once you have created an advert click on the Matches link to list any existing adverts where they are located in one of your target locations and you live in one of thiers.  You can contact these by going into the advert and clicking on the contact link.

There is also a link to view 3 way home swaps if there are no direct matches that take your fancy.

Viewing adverts

To view adverts click on the Home swap advert link on the top menu. 

Next click on the country in which you wish to view or click on the search button.  Enter the details you wish to search for and then click search.

To update your profile, view your advert and search etc. use the buttons and user menu on the right.
