Three way home swap

If you can’t find anyone in your target area that wants to move to where you live it may be possible to involve more people in the process.  For example:

• Mr Smith lives in Wakefield and wants to move to Newcastle
• Mrs Jones lives in Newcastle and wants to move to Brighton
• Mr Walker lives in Brighton and wishes to move to Wakefield

As you can see there are 3 people that can all swap properties to move into the area they wish to live:

• Mr Smith moves into Mrs Jones’ house
• Mrs Jones moves into Mr Walker’s house
• Mr Walker moves into Mr Smith’s house.

This can all be arranged so that the exchange happens on the same day and can be made as seamless as a normal swap.

How do I find a three way home swap

You need to find properties with people who wish to move into your area.  On this site you could do this by entering this into the ‘seeking area’ search fields and this will list anyone looking to move to where you currently live.

Once you have a list of these properties you need to look at the areas they are seeking to move to. Then if you search these locations for people who are seeking properties in your area you will have a possible match or several matches.  You would then need to contact both of these properties to see if they are interested in doing a 3 way home swap.

What do I need to do different to arrange a 3 way house swop?

Normally each party involved in the swap will need to fill in just 1 exchange form however some landlords may require further information.  When completing the information ensure you mark it “MULTIPLE EXCHANGE”.

Can more than 3 people be involved?

It is possible to arrange a swap involving many parties, however the longer the chain the greater the level of communication and effort required to ensure its success.
